Sonic Beat Records Releases Album “Lo-Fi Hip Hop”

New album features music in narrative form from award-winning composers Sebastian Robertson and DJ DNA.

SANTA MONICA – September, 2020—

Dreamy, jazzy, avante-garde, hip-hop, jazzhop, chillhop, ambient, chill, relaxing, the descriptors of Lo-Fi music reach far and wide for a genre that is built around consistency and literal low fidelity. The exact origins of Lo-Fi music are largely debated but the mid 2000’s is largely considered the renaissance that brought back, or put the genre on the map, and it hasn’t left since. Chances are even if you are unfamiliar with the genre, you have heard the classic Japanese music producer Nujabes original and lyrically absent hit “Auruarian Dance”.   A musical genre that was once considered a small DIY blip has expanded in parallel to the accelerating digital streaming world. The sound lends itself to a myriad of applications that even similar genres don’t quite reach. Studying, working, relaxing, production music, public setting’s, podcasting, vlogging, gaming, self-help tapes, intro’s, outro’s, Lo-Fi music set’s a vibe that is hard not to enjoy in any setting. Lo-Fi also has an impressively wide range of audience age. The intentional audible imperfections seem to be attractive to listeners with no musical understanding, all the way to professional musicians able to recognize the idiosyncrasies of the recording process.

Sonic Beat Records dropped their first cameo into the Lo-Fi world with Lo-Fi Hip Hop (SBR215). Available for streaming on Spotify and for download and licensing on Universal Production Music, this album has been a hit since its release in September 2020. Titled Lo-Fi Hip Hop, this album is 12 tracks of pure Lo-Fi bliss. With a fresh perspective on old school hip hop, the dreamy laid-back sound has been a big success from streams to licenses within the production music world. Stay tuned for more albums as the artists of Sonic Beat Records are embarking on a continuous exploration of musical Lo-Fi productions that will be released on Universal Production Music and Spotify amongst other digital streaming platforms.
